Salted Pretzel Rice Crispy Squares
If you’re a fan of the mix of sweet and salty then these sweet treats are for you! I personally love the combination of salt and chocolate, but I know it’s not for everyone. You may just surprise yourself with these ones. These squares are such a fun twist on the classic rice crispy squares. I love to level up basic recipes and make them just fun! Plain rice crispy squares are a beautiful canvas to add whatever you like.
Chocolate and pretzels are so good together that someone invented chocolate dipped pretzels. Add that on top of a rice crispy square and it’s a party! Speaking of party, bring these to your next event and I promise they’ll be gone before you can blink twice. They’re so easy to make and will always be a crowd pleaser. They’re also great to cut up and pack for camping, road trips or even a day hike with the family. We attend a church group on Fridays and I will definitely be bringing these to share this week!
Salted Pretzel Rice Crispy Squares
Ingredients
- 1 10oz bag vanilla marshmallows (283g)
- 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup pretzels
- flakey sea salt, for finishing
Instructions
- Line an 8x8'' square pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan. Add the marshmallows and stir continually on low heat until melted.
- Once the marshmallows are melted down, turn off the heat and fold in the rice crispy cereal. Stir to combine until everything is evenly coated in the marshmallow.
- Quickly transfer the crispy mixture into your lined pan and press down with your hands until flat. On top, press the whole pretzels and sprinkle the chocolate all over. Cover with aluminum foil for 5 minutes to melt the chocolate so that it adheres to the bars.
- Take the foil off and allow the bars to set completely before cutting. You can put them in the fridge to speed up the process.
- Cut into squares, sprinkle with salt and enjoy!
