Grain-free Chocolate Granola
What I love about Grain-free Chocolate Granola
It’s ok to have chocolate for breakfast, right? Well, if you have it in the form of this chocolate granola I'd have to say it’s absolutely ok! This granola is loaded with nuts and seeds and provides a rich dose of vitamins and minerals with each portion and it’s both gluten-free and grain-free! The types of nuts and seeds that are used are absolutely customizable, so swap them out for your favourites! The best thing is… you don’t even miss the oats!
You can serve the granola on yogurt, with milk or even on top of a smoothie bowl. It’s fun to try it in different ways. Here’s a fun tip: when you have it with milk, after a while your milk turns into chocolate milk! So, then you have chocolate granola with chocolate milk. Is that too much chocolate? Asked no-one, ever. So, where are my chocolate lovers at because you all have to try this recipe!
What you will need to make Grain-free Chocolate Granola
Here’s a list of ingredients that you will need:
Nuts - I used a mix of almonds and walnuts but you can use your two favs! Macadamia nuts and pecans would also be delicious.
Seeds - You will need pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and hemp seeds for this recipe.
Coconut - I chose to use shredded coconut for this recipe, but coconut ribbons would also work! I usually use unsweetened to limit added sugars.
Cocoa powder - What makes this into chocolate granola? Well, cocoa powder! The best for health benefits is raw, unprocessed cacao, but use whatever you have.
Xylitol - I add a little xylitol for added sweetness, but you can also use regular granulated sugar.
Honey/Maple syrup - The majority of sweetness will come from maple syrup. I like to use real maple syrup! Honey would work as well.
Coconut oil - The blend of melted coconut oil and maple syrup is what makes the perfect coating for the granola and also helps it to crisp up.
You will also need a couple pantry basics:
Sea salt
Pure vanilla extract
