What I love about Green Salad with Berries and Avocado
Iโm absolutely thrilled about this loaded Green Salad with Berries and Avocadoโit truly stands out! To begin with, it bursts with a vibrant mix of scrumptious ingredients that not only taste amazing but also deliver a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals. For example, antioxidant-rich blueberries and vitamin C-packed strawberries pair beautifully with crisp mixed greens, creamy avocado, crunchy slivered almonds, and tangy crumbled feta. As a result, every bite offers a delightful explosion of flavours and textures thatโs simply irresistible.
Additionally, this salad doesnโt just taste greatโit makes you feel great about what youโre eating. To turn it into a hearty meal, just top it with grilled chicken. The homemade vinaigrette comes together in minutes with only four ingredients. The recipe serves four as a main dish or six as a side, so it works well for different occasions.
Itโs also perfect for a work lunch. Prep the ingredients ahead of time, then add the avocado and dressing right before eating to keep everything fresh. Hosting a summer dinner party or heading to a potluck? This salad makes a stunning addition to the table with its vibrant colours and fresh flavours. No matter the setting, itโs sure to impress!
What you will need to make Green Salad with Berries and Avocado
Here’s a list of ingredients that you will need:
- Mixed greens – First of all, I like to use mixed spring greens for this recipe but green lead lettuce, red lettuce, spinach or arugula would also work. Lettuces are widely sprayed with pesticides, so try to find organic if possible!
- Berries – Next up: berries! My favourite blend for this salad is fresh strawberries and blueberries. They’re the perfect match for this salad. Again, try to find organic is possible!
- Almonds – Additionally, I love the little bit of crunch that the almonds give to the salad. They go really well! Roasted nuts, candied nuts or even seeds, like sunflower and pumpkin, would go with this salad too!
- Feta cheese – Plus, you gotta have cheese on a salad and I do love feta cheese! It has so much flavour and a nice bit of saltiness that really compliments the sweet berries and more mild avocado.
- Avocado – Moreover, avocado goes beautifully on this salad and also adds nutrients like healthy fats! Make sure they are just ripe; not underripe or overripe.
- Shallots – Finally, shallots add a very necessary zing of onion flavour to the salad. It too helps balance out the more bland/mild flavours in the salad. I like to slice them thin so they add just a hint of flavour and spice.
