What I love about 5-Minute Fruit and Nut Muesli
Muesli is one of my all-time favourite breakfast recipes, and this 5-Minute Fruit and Nut Muesli is no exception. Think of it as a raw granola of sorts โ the base is simple rolled oats, and from there you can customize it with whatever nuts, seeds, or dried fruit that you love. Best of all, itโs completely no-bake. Everything gets mixed together in one large jar and stored in the pantry, making it an easy grab-and-go option whenever you need a quick breakfast.
Years ago, when I used to buy boxed muesli, there was one particular variety I absolutely loved. It was perfectly balanced and packed with all the best add-ins. Over time, Iโve tried to recreate something similar at home, and this recipe is the result. Itโs loaded with oats, crunchy nuts, and a mix of freeze-dried and dried fruits for the perfect texture and flavour. As a bonus, itโs gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and egg-free, making it a breakfast option almost anyone can enjoy. Truly, it doesnโt get much quicker than this โ just add milk and youโre good to go.
Because itโs so fast to make, this muesli is also ideal for meal prep. I like to store mine in a large jar with a lid and keep it in the pantry all week. That way, busy mornings are effortless โ simply scoop it into a bowl, pour over some milk, and enjoy. My favourite nut milks to pair with it are macadamia milk or cashew milk, as they add a subtle creaminess that complements the flavours perfectly.
Recipe Notes
A few things to keep in mind:
- Oats – First of all, rolled or old-fashioned oats work best for this recipe as they have a larger flake and donโt absorb liquid as fast as quick oats would. I prefer sprouted oats as they are better for digestion.
- Almonds – Moreover, I used sliced almonds for this recipe because they are nice and thin but still add a little crunch and texture. Make sure you use sliced almonds and not slivered almonds. If you wanted to use chopped whole almonds, that would work too.
- Freeze-dried fruit – The freeze-dried fruit is what makes this muesli! Itโs my favourite part. Not only do they add beautiful colours to the mix, they also have all of the benefits of fresh fruits but are shelf stable! I used freeze-dried black currants and strawberries. These are freeze-dried, not just dried. There’s a difference in texture. Not every grocery store carries them but you can buy them online.

FAQ
I would say muesli is like a soft granola. It’s completely no-bake, so if you’ve ever tasted raw oats before you’d know sort of what it will taste like. Less crunchy, more soft, but not as soft as oatmeal.
No. That’s what I love about muesli. It’s just like cereal. All you have to do is add milk and eat it! ๐
Yes! You absolutely can. Xylitol is a great sugar-free substitute. It’s one of my favourite’s because it tastes just like sugar, unlike most other sugar substitutes. Just make sure it’s non-GMO.
